Chairman of Seplat Group, Dr. ABC Orjiako has been inducted into the London Stock Exchange’s LSEG Africa Advisory Group.
This will be the organization’s latest addition to its expanding business relationship with the continent.
Orjiako is one of the specially selected outstanding senior African business leaders and indeed, the only Nigerian business leader selected in the new group appointed to the new Africa Advisory Group.
This group is assigned to produce a collaborative leadership study which will deliver Africa specific policy recommendations, provide a regular forum for focusing the trends and challenges of doing business in the continent to problem solve some of the issues affecting Africa from a commercial and social perspective and boost capital market development.
Among those appointed were members drawn from the three largest stock exchanges in Sub-Saharan Africa, namely the Johannesburg Stock Exchange, Nigerian Stock Exchange and Nairobi Securities Exchange.
These three markets accounts for approximately 80 percent of the market capitalization of public securities in Africa
About Dr. Orjiako
Dr. Ambrose Bryant Chukwueloka Orjiako trained as a General Surgeon at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Lagos, and later sub-specialised in orthopaedic and trauma surgery and became a fellow of the West African College of Surgeons in 1996.
Dr Orjiako established and managed various companies in the upstream, downstream and services sectors of the oil and gas industry in Nigeria.
These include Abbeycourt Trading Company Limited (with which he traded crude oil and refined petroleum products with, amongst others, Glencore UK Limited), Abbeycourt Energy Services Limited, Zebbra Energy Limited and Shebah Exploration and Production Company Limited.
He also has other business interests in construction, real estate development, pharmaceuticals and shipping.
He co-founded Seplat in 2009 and became the Chairman, spearheading new business development and fundraising as well as providing leadership on strategy and stakeholder relationships.
He is also the chairman of Neimeth Pharmaceutical International plc, which is listed on the NSE, and a director of MPI, which is listed on NYSE Euronext Paris.
