As part of measures to reduce frequent cases of cooking gas accidents, the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) has commenced the process of licensing Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) otherwise known as cooking gas retailers.
The move, according to the President of Liquefied Petroleum Gas Retailers (LPGAR), Association, Michael Umudu, was also aimed at ridding the sector of quacks and unlicensed professionals.
Umudu stated this at a safety awareness campaign organised by the Lagos chapter of LPGAR in Lagos state. He said the high rate of cooking gas accidents across the country remained a cause for concern to the association, hence, the decision of the DPR.
