- The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has denounced reports in a section of the media attributing the deployment of the former Group General Manager, Crude Oil Marketing Division, Mr. Gbenga Olu Komolafe, to allegations of fraud, describing such reports as mischievous and unprofessional.
- The corporation also advised friends and associates of its new Group Managing Director, Dr. Ibe Kachukwu, to stop congratulating with paid media adverts and allow him concentrate on his new assignment. Group spokesman of the corporation, Mr. Ohi Alegbe, stated in separate releases that the ongoing reorganization which saw the appointment of of new GMD and redeployment of key management officials of the corporation are not linked to allegations of fraud as reported by some media organizations.
- He explained that the deployment of Komolafe was a part of ongoing reorganization that commenced with the appointment of a new Group Managing Director and retirement of eight Group Executive Directors “and has nothing to do with any allegation of financial malfeasance.”
- It urged members of the public to discountenance such reports and called on journalists to adhere to the ethics of their profession and avoid unnecessary speculation. NNPC had announced the redeployment of Mr. GbengaOluKomolafe as the Group General Manager in charge of Special Duties. Until his appointment, Mr. Komolafe was the Group General Manager, Crude Oil Marketing Division of the corporation.
