Stanbic IBTC Appoints Three New Heavy Weight Directors

Stanbic IBTC Holdings Plc notified The Nigerian Stock Exchange of the appointment of Ms. Ngozi Edozien, Mr. Basil Omiyi and Mr. Ballama Manu as Non-Executive Directors of the Company. Stanbic added that these appointments are still subject to the receipt of all requisite regulatory approvals.
Ms. Ngozi Edozien
Ms. Edozien holds a Bachelor of Art in Politics, Philosophy and Economics from Harvard University and a Masters in Business Administration from Harvard Business School, Harvard University. She began her career in investment banking at Solomon Brothers and then at JP Morgan. Post MBA, Ngozi worked for McKinsey & Co. in London and Paris. From 1999 to 2005, Ms. Edozien was the Vice President; Strategic Planning and Business Development for Pfizer Inc. and later rose to become Regional Director for Pfizer Inc. in Anglophone East, West and Central Africa between 2005 and 2008.
Ms. Ngozi was the founding CEO of EVHA; a private equity fund focused on investing in small to medium sized enterprises in the healthcare space in Africa. The fund is an innovation in the sector/region sponsored by IFC, Gates Foundation and African Development Bank. She was until recently, the Chief Executive Officer of Actis West Africa with broad responsibilities for all aspects of Actis Private Equity Business in West Africa. She was also a Non-Executive Director on the Board of Diamond Bank Plc until her resignation in August 2014.
She is also a Non-Executive Director on the board of Pagatech Limited which focuses on delivering innovative and universal access to financial services across Africa. She serves on the Boards of Vlisco Group and PZ Cussons Plc.
Mr. Basil Omiyi
Mr. Omiyi graduated with a B.Sc. in Chemistry in 1969 and obtained a post-graduate diploma in Petroleum Technology in 1970 from the University of Ibadan. Most of his career was at Royal Dutch Shell where he spent 40 years in various roles both in Nigeria and Europe, including Head of Production Technology, Chief Petroleum Engineer, Managing Director of Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Limited, and ultimately country Chairman of Shell Nigeria. Mr. Omiyi is currently an Independent Non-Executive Director on the Board of Seplat Petroleum Development Company Limited. He is also the Chairman of the Risk Management Committee and a Member of both the Remuneration Committee and the Nomination and Establishment Committees of Seplat.   Mr. Omiyi has also held a number of Board memberships and senior advisory positions including; Chairman of Greenacres Energy Limited, Chairman of the Nigerian Upstream Industry Group, board member of the Nigerian Business Group of New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD), Board member of the Nigerian Extractive Industry Transparency Initiative (NEITI), Chairman of the Oil and Gas Commission of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG), and member of the Presidential Advisory Council, amongst others.   In 2011, Mr. Omiyi was awarded the National Honour of Commander of the Order of the Niger by the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for pioneering Nigerian leadership in the oil and gas sector.

Mr. Ballama Manu
Mr. Manu holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting (First Class Honours) from Ahmadu Bello University Zaria (1978) and a Master of Science Degree in Accounting and Finance from the London School of Economics, United Kingdom (1982).
Mr. Manu started his career in 1979 at Arthur Andersen & Co and subsequently served in several other organizations including the defunct Bank of the North Limited; New Nigeria Development Company Limited; International Merchant Bank Plc (defunct); and the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation. Between 2001 and 2004 Mr. Manu served as Executive Chairman, Federal Inland Revenue Services. In May 2004, he was appointed Executive Director, Operations (Up-country and Special Products), Union Bank of Nigeria Plc having previously served in the Bank as Executive Director, Information Technology and Services between April 1999 and 2001. Mr. Manu is currently Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Sicom Capital Services Limited.
With the above appointments and subject to receiving the required regulatory approvals, the Directors of Stanbic IBTC Holdings Plc will now be as follows:
1. Mr. Atedo N. A Peterside CON – Chairman

2. Mrs. Sola David-Borha      –  Chief Executive
