THISDAY featured an interview with the founder of Ruff n Tumble Mrs. Adenike Ogunlesi which I found quite interesting. In the interview she talks about the possibility of taking Nigerian fashion brands globally, expanding her business, the textile industry etc. She also talked about how the name Ruff n Tumble was formed. See excerpts below;
So talking about the name, I was standing outside my neighbour’s kitchen door; Mrs. Gbemi Sasore. Then she was having a teddy bear exhibition and she said she wanted me to take part in the exhibition and I asked her what we were going to write on the canopy for people to know the name of the company that was handling the children cloths. Then it was a humble beginning with a handful of tailors. I was buying fibre locally, we were making the cloth and I didn’t even have a label. And she suggested we draw something like a drum with children tumbling out of it and I said, okay children like to play rough. The name ‘Ruff ‘n’ Tumble’ came in from there.
