Its the start of the year already and in the first full working week for the year, the Nigerian Stock Market Allshare Index has risen 4% year to date. In just over a year, the Nigerian All Share Index has risen over 35% and is still rising. Much of this rise is due to increased Foreign Portfolio Investment (FPI) in our equities as foreign investors take advantage of our cheap and depressed stocks. FPI’s have increased over the last 5 years from making up just 14% of investments in the NSE they are now up to 60% as at 2012.
