I bought a 60 inch TV recently only for my wife to remind me of the Samsung Smart TV that I must have missed. Since the TV I bought is a 3D LG TV that cost roughly over N300,000, I had no reason (so I thought) to think I needed some “Smart” TV at home. Oh was I wrong….that TV has got some smartness in it and for N318,000 I would have bought a?46inch UA46D6000 Smart 3D LED TV?from SIMS.
But why would anyone want to buy a Smart Tv anyway? Well, currently in the tech world, the term “ecosystem” has now become the bedrock and advantage technology companies must possess to be able to compete effectively. Apple exemplified the importance of having an ecosystem before the likes of Microsoft, Google and more importantly Samsung now does. An ecosystem is basically the ability for a gadget produced by a company to work seamlessly with other product lines created by the company. An iphone/ipad/Macbook/iCloud/iTunes/iPod/Apple TV or is it Windows Phone/Windows OS/Xbox/Surface/Skydrive or Google Search/Android Os/Google Drive/Gmail/Google Plus/Google Maps etc.
Samsung in my opinion probably offers potentially the best ecosystem of gadgets out there at the moment. As a leading electronic company in the world, they also manufacture a wide range of products including Refrigerators, Semi-conductors, Air Conditioners, DVD players, Laptops, Mobile Phones, Smart Phones, Television Sets and off-course Smart Tv. Imagine a world where your DVD player, Laptops, Mobile Phones, AC’s, Fridges and TV’s all work together seamlessly. Utopian as it may sound, the Smart TV already offers something close.
With the TV you can connect your Smart Tv to your Samsung devices such as your Galaxy Phones, PC’s, and any compatible digital devices. Basically, with the TV you can wirelessly stream videos, pictures and movies from your devices directly to your TV. This via a mode called “All Share” and could connect up to four devices. It also comes with a High Definition viewing experience and 3D viewing.
All of this make this TV inevitably tempting to me and a likely purchase item at sooner rather than later. I love the unique world of being able to see all my gadgets interact and deliver a better user experience. That way I feel I am getting the best value for money. Unfortunately though, I do not like Samsung Smart Phones, despite their popularity and high user reviews. The good news with technology is that once it is out there others will surely get in on the act making it far cheaper to purchase. We will surely see loads of Smart Tv’s from Samsung and other Electronic Companies.
For ?now, I will console myself with the 60inch LG 3D Tv I got for N315k since I unintentionally missed out on a far superior N318k 46inch Smart TV. Size does matter you know!!
