According to Forbes, a Nigerian, Mr Adebayo Ogunlesi has been appointed to the board of Goldman Sachs an independent director. Mr Ogunlesi is a well known private equity tycoon and chairman of the Global Infrastructure Partners, the hedge fund that acquired Gatwick Airport in 2010 for $2.4b. They also bought the London City Airport and Edinburgh Airport in 2006 and 2012, respectively.
He is also the Chairman of the African Finance Corporation and also serves on the board of many other companies and non-profit organizations.
