Greif Nigeria Plc has announced the appointment of David Olufemi Onabajo as the company’s new Managing Director.
Onabajo’s appointment followed the retirement of Olukunle Obadina as the Managing Director of the Company on October 31, 2018.
With effect from November 1, 2018, Onabajo resumes the role of the Managing Director of Greif Nigeria Plc.
Onabajo was born on 16th February 1975. He holds a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Electrical/Electronics Engineering from the Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH), and a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) in Zaria.
He is an accomplished professional with over 16 years of results-driven and dedicated track record with wide-ranging experience in planning and leading operations involving medium-large scale manufacturing environments.
Onabajo joins Greif from the Food and beverage industry where he had responsibility for all aspects of operations. He also has previous experience from the energy sector.
Greif Nigeria Plc had released its financial results for the 9 months period ended July 2018.
Results for the period show revenue dropped from N591 million in 2017 to N405 million in 2018. Profit before tax also dropped from N55 million in 2017 to N2.5 million in 2018.
The firm made a loss after tax of N51 million in 2018, as against a profit after tax of N89.8 million in 2017.
Greif Nigeria Plc is currently trading N9.10 on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE).

Greif Nigeria Plc started as a limited liability company in 1940.It has existed for 78 years, making drums for industrial packaging. Its initial name (Metal Containers of West Africa Limited) was changed to Van Leer Containers Nigeria Limited in 1969.
The changes in brand identity continued when the company’s name changed to Van Leer Nigeria Plc in 2004 when it became public limited company. The name was finally changed to Greif Nigeria Plc.
The company is based in Lagos, where it continues to manufacture and distribute steel and plastic drums.
