Dangote Industries Limited overseeing the construction of the Dangote Petrochemicals and Fertilizer Plant has given assurances that its 650,000 barrels per day (bpd) capacity petroleum refinery will be ready by 2018.
The Group Executive Director of Dangote Industries Limited, Mr. Devakumar Edwin gave a brief breakdown. He said construction work on the projects would be completed by 2017 while refining operation would take off by 2018.
He said the refinery will make its products available to wholesalers and not retailers in the area of supply.
According to Edwin, if the price of its gasoline is higher than the subsidized price, the buyers pay Dangote Refinery in full and then get the subsidy from government.
“The 650,000 barrels per day capacity refinery will meet the 2018 deadline,” he said.
“This is the largest single train refining plant in the world”
“But whatever it is we will be able to supply it, he said
The GED hinted that a chartered engineer and Indian national vested with the responsibility of overseeing all the plants in the Dangote Group has been engaged, he said that the refinery was designed to utilize all African crudes.
What does largest single train refining plant mean?
I googled and saw that there are at least 5 refineries in the world that currently have capacities of more than 650,000 barrels per day.

The difference, in simple analogy, is that Dangote will be using one Truck to load 650,000 while others are loading more than that with may be two or more Trucks.
