Forbes has released its latest report on the richest entertainers in the world, and this has list brought up some surprising and not so surprising names.
Floyd Mayweather comes out top with a $300million pay, making it the highest annual sum ever for an athlete. This money came mostly from his May 2 victory over Manny Pacquiao, who took home $160million the same day.
Their fight generated a record 4.4 million pay-per-view buys and media coverage from Mayweather’s Las Vegas home turf to Pacquiao’s native Philipines.
The boxers rank 1st and 2nd on the Celebrity 100 list, which measures the earnings of the highest –paid entertainers on the planet over a 12 month period.
The third ranked star, was unexpectedly Katy Perry, who clocked a whopping $135milllion. Katy Perry played a total of 124 shows, 75 of them took place outside America, in 27 different Countries.
One Direction takes the No. 4 spot for similar reasons with Katy Perry. The world’s biggest boy band played 74 shows over the past 12 months, hitting every continent besides Antarctica. Thanks to a strong touring drive and profound changes in the concert business, spurred by the rise of the global middle class.
Others in the list include, Robert Downey Jr.(No.8) who earned $80million for his role in the movie Iron Man. Vin Diesel (no.43) banked $47million for his role on Furious 7, which brought in $1.5billion worldwide.
