As a United Nations Representative, Dr Ojeagbase will be authorised to represent the ECOSOC-affiliated NGO and the Africana Women Working Group at UN Headquarters and related global forums.

His responsibilities will include participating in major UN programmes and events such as the ECOSOC Youth Forum, the Commission on the Status of Women, the Commission on Social Development, the Commission on Population and Development, the High-Level Political Forum, United Nations tourism-related engagements and General Assembly side events.

He will also contribute to policy discussions, statements and reports on behalf of the organisation while promoting the principles of equity, dignity and justice for Africana women and girls worldwide.

Opportunity For Organisational Engagement

The appointment further provides opportunities for organisations working in partnership with the ECOSOC NGO and the Africana Women Working Group to organise parallel or side events during relevant UN sessions.

Through the ECOSOC platform, participating organisations can apply to host such events, creating avenues for greater international visibility and engagement on development issues.

In addition, Dr Ojeagbase will be eligible to attend various UN events and sessions of interest under the ECOSOC framework and will receive an annual UN ECOSOC NGO pass granting access to the United Nations throughout the duration of his appointment.

As part of his induction into the role, Dr Ojeagbase is expected to participate in a specialised virtual training programme on the United Nations system and ECOSOC representation. The training is organised by the Chartered Institute of Gender Priority Strategy and CICA International University.

Expressing confidence in his appointment, the Africana Women Working Group stated that it believes Dr Ojeagbase’s contributions will strengthen the visibility, impact and legacy of both the ECOSOC NGO and the organisation within the United Nations system.

The appointment represents another significant milestone in Dr Ojeagbase’s professional journey and underscores the growing recognition of Nigerian professionals in international policy, advocacy and development circles.
