The Governor of Zamfara State, Bello Matawalle, has announced the suspension of ban on telecommunication services in the state. The state joins Kaduna State, which a few days ago, announced the restoration of telecommunication services in the state.

This was made known by Matawalle while speaking at the state congress of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Gusau on Saturday.

Matawalle said the Nigerian Communication Communication (NCC) would release all the networks by Monday adding that his administration was satisfied with the current security situation in the state.

What the Zamfara State Governor is saying

Matawalle said that banditry and kidnapping had been substantially suppressed within the period of the telecom shutdown adding that security forces were still flushing out and arresting remnants of the bandits and their collaborators.

The Governor said, “I want to announce today that we have taken a decision to lift the ban on telecommunications in the state. God willing, as from next Monday, we shall have that effected.

“The decision was due to encouraging reports of successes achieved in the state from those stringent measures.’’

The Governor explained that the decision to lift the ban was informed by the encouraging report of peace attained in the nooks and crannies of the state.

He thanked the residents of the state for their patience and resilience throughout the 3 months of suspension of telecommunication services and assured them that his administration would continue to take any measure necessary to preserve peace and protect their lives and property.
