Mr. Paul Emeziem (APC – Onuimo) speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly has been impeached.
This was reported by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday afternoon, stating that Emeziem’s removal followed a resolution signed by 19 of the 27 members of the House on Monday afternoon, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
This will be the second State House of Assembly impeachment in Nigeria in under a month.
Following Emeziem’s impeachment, Mr Kennedy Ibeh, a second-term member of the assembly representing Obowo State Constituency, would be the new Imo State House Speaker.
It was reported that members of the House left the Assembly’s premises as soon they finished the closed-door sitting.
This comes after the now removed speaker Emeziem announced last week the impeachment of the Deputy Speaker of the assembly, Mr Amarachi Iwanyanwu.
