Ghana’s Central Bank, the Bank of Ghana, has warned Ghanian citizens and the general public that the bank is not running any promotions for the celebration of the nation’s 64th independence anniversary. This warning comes in response to notices circulating in social media purporting that the Bank of Ghana is running a promotion. Indeed, the bank noted that it is not running any promotion of any kind urging everyone to be guided.
The general public is therefore “advised not to subscribe to this fraudulent activity inviting the public to select the links shared through social media, which is intended to lure users to participate in this spurious promotion,” the bank warned.
The bank also provided that its official communication with the general public is “via the Bank’s published Notices or on the Bank’s website: www.bog.gov.gh and the Bank’s social media networks as follows: Facebook: @thebankofghana and Twitter: @thebankofghana
By issuing the warning, the Bank of Ghana enjoined the general public to “desist from participating in such fraudulent promotions in the name of Bank of Ghana” noting that anyone, corporate or individual who participates in such promotion or the like, does so at his, hers or their risk. The warning is contained in Bank of Ghana’s notice to the public numbered as BG/GOV/2021/16 entitled, “SCAM ALERT – IGNORE 64TH ANNIVERSARY PROMOTION.
Be warned.
