According to Tesla’s third-quarter 2021 report, 241,300 electric vehicles were delivered in the quarter.
Deliveries exceeded expectations during the quarter. According to estimates compiled by StreetAccount as of September 30, experts predicted that Tesla would supply 220,900 electric cars during this time frame.
During the three-month period ending September 30, 2021, Tesla produced 237,823 cars, according to its report. Its cheaper midrange vehicles, the Model 3 and Y, accounted for 228,882 vehicles out of that total.
Its remaining Model S and X vehicles accounted for 8,941.
As its Model S and X vehicle production slowed, Tesla produced 206,421 cars while delivering 201,250 vehicles.
Almost all paperwork must be completed correctly for a car to be counted as delivered when it is handed over to the customer. The company said in a statement that final numbers could vary by 0.5% or more.
Deliveries by the model aren’t broken out by Tesla, nor is it broken down by sales or production in China versus the U.S. (Deliveries are Tesla’s closest approximation to vehicle sales.)
During the third quarter, Tesla repeatedly delayed deliveries. In their message on Saturday, the company acknowledged the delays, apologizing for the inconvenience and asking for customers’ patience.
Austin, Texas, was the city where the press release announcing the report was released. Elon Musk moved to Texas last year, and Tesla is building a new factory in the Austin area despite Tesla’s website still listing its headquarters as Palo Alto, California.
The Tesla Motors annual shareholder meeting will take place at the company’s plant near Austin, which is under construction now. Musk threatened to move Tesla’s headquarters out of California in the spring of 2020 after the state ordered Tesla’s Fremont plant to temporarily halt operations in the wake of California’s Covid-related health orders.
In case you missed it
- Nairametrics earlier reported that Tesla anticipated manufacturing 300,000 cars in the first nine months of 2021. Despite a global semiconductor scarcity, the vehicles will be manufactured at Tesla’s Shanghai facility.
- Musk also announced that Tesla is building a 5’8 humanoid robot called Tesla Bot. The announcement was made as part of AI Day, a series of tech talks hosted by Tesla in California to recruit machine learning talent.
