Bears dominate market as NGX market capitalization loses N16.97 billion

At the end of today’s trading session, the Nigerian Exchange market closed negative amidst sell-offs and buy-interests as the benchmark All-Share Index (ASI) depreciated by 8 basis points, while the market capitalization decreased by N16.97 billion.

The NGX ASI closed at 38,873.85 points, to reflect a loss of 0.08% from the previous trading day.

At the close of market today, Tuesday 21st September 2021, the stock exchange market value currently stands at N20.25 trillion from N20.27 trillion in the previous trading day. Its Year-to-Date (YTD) return however, is currently settled at –3.47%.

The market breadth closed positive as MRS led 16 Gainers, and 13 Losers topped by NEIMETH at the end of today’s session.
The stock market has declined –1,396.87 basepoints since the start of the year.

  • MRS up +9.75% to close at N15.20
  • VERITASKAP up +9.52% to close at N0.23
  • REGALINS up +6.82% to close at N0.47
  • UNITYBANK up +3.77% to close at N0.55
  • COURTVILLE up +3.23% to close at N0.32

NGX ASI Top losers

  • NEIMETH down –7.89% to close at N1.75
  • CHAMS down –4.35 to close at N0.22
  • JAPAULGOLD down –4.08% to close at N0.47
  • SOVRENINS down –4.00% to close at N0.24
  • WEMABANK down –3.80% to close at N0.76

  • GTCO – 19,036,730 units
  • ZENITHBANK – 14,199,218 units
  • UCAP – 12,887,768 units
  • ACCESS – 10,083,060 units

Market sentiments trend towards the bears, despite the market differential being in favour of the advancers as 16 gainers surpassed 13 losers.
