Covid-19: 346,811 Nigerians receive first shot of Moderna vaccine – NPHCDA

The National Primary Health Care Development Agency, NPHCDA announced that over 300 thousand Nigerians have received the first dose of the 4 million Moderna vaccines that arrived Nigeria earlier this month.

The NPHCDA disclosed this in a statement on Monday evening, adding that 13,756 who were waiting for the second dose of the AstraZeneca vaccines have received their shots, as of August 30th, 2021, in 36 States and the FCT.

“346,811 eligible Nigerians have been vaccinated with the first dose of Moderna vaccine while 13,756 eligible Nigerians vaccinated with 1st dose have collected their 2nd dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine,” they said.

Lagos state leads with the most vaccinated with the Moderna vaccine so far at 47,384. Anambra, Delta, Gombe, Kogi, Kwara and Plateau are yet to give out Moderna vaccines to residents so far.

On the 2nd of August, 2021, Nairametrics reported that Nigeria’sifght in the rising 3rd wave of COVID-19 got a boost as the Federal Government announced the arrival of the 4,000, 080 doses of Moderna vaccine. “The Country took delivery of 4,000, 080 doses of Moderna COVID-19 vaccine, donated by the United States of America through the COVAX facility,” the NPHCDA said.
