Insecurity: Kaduna postpones school resumption

2023: El-Rufai says " elements" in presidency working against APC because they lost Primaries

Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir-El-Rufai

The Kaduna State Government has announced that it has postponed school resumption dates for both Primary and Secondary schools. This is due to the rising cases of school kidnappings by bandits which have plagued the state.

This was disclosed in a statement jointly signed by the Commissioner for Education, Dr Shehu Muhammad and that of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Mr Samuel Aruwan, according to the News Agency of Nigeria.

The government said the reason for the suspension of resumption was the intel from security agencies on the activities of bandits in the state.

What the Kaduna State Government is saying

“The Kaduna State Government commends the military and police high commands for the on-going security operations against armed bandits across the state.

“The government praises the doggedness and courage of officers and troops carrying out air and ground operations around Kaduna, Niger, Katsina, Plateau and Zamfara boundaries,” it stated.

It added that it requested the activities of military and police high commands to expand the operations to newly identified hide-outs. It added that new dates for school resumption will be announced, based on further security assessments.

”While wishing the military and security agencies resounding success against the bandits, Kaduna government appeals for the understanding of all residents over any inconvenience caused by the postponement,” it said.
