The Minister of Power, Alhaji Saleh Mamman has stated that the ministry is working to improve electricity supply in Nigeria and to provide alternative sources of power to communities not connected to the national grid.

The Minister disclosed this on Tuesday at the Eld-el-Kabir celebration in Jalingo, according to the News Agency of Nigeria.

He urged that alternative sources of power generation would be provided to communities not connected to the national grid.

Mamman urged Nigerians to embrace peace, insisting that only peaceful coexistence would bring development. He also called for agitators should give peace a chance and contribute to the ‘one Nigeria’s project’.

Nairametrics reported earlier this year that the Federal Ministry of Power through one of the agencies under its supervision, the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), launched the implementation for the 5 million off-grid solar connections programme (Solar Power Naija).

This initiative also includes about N140 billion which will be provided in concessionary financing from the Central Bank of Nigeria and the commercial bank
