NSE trades negatively as UBA, UAC join top gainers’ list

The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) ended Monday’s trading session in negative territory. The All Share Index closed at 27,808.69 basis points, down 0.40%. Year to date, the index is down 11.52%.

Top Gainers and Losers: Africa Prudential Plc was the best performing stock today. The stock gained 8.82% to close at N3.70. United Bank of Africa Plc gained 8.18% to close at N5.95. Ikeja Hotel Plc gained 6.57% to close at N1.46. Sovereign Trust Insurance Plc gained 4.76% to close at N0.22. UAC of Nigeria Plc rounds off the top five gainers for today. The stock gained 3.70% to close at N5.60.

On the flip side, NASCON Allied Industries Plc was the worst-performing stock, declining by 10% to close at N13.50. Consolidated Hallmark Insurance Plc fell by 9.68% to close at N0.28. Linkage Assurance Plc fell by 9.38% to close at N0.58. C&I Leasing Plc fell by 8.08% to close at N4.55. Transnational Corp of Nigeria Plc rounds off the top five losers for the day. The stock shed 6.86% to close at N0.95.

Top Trades by Volume: Courteville Business Solutions Plc was the most actively traded stock today. 49.7 million shares valued at N9.9 million were traded in 53 deals. Sterling Bank Plc was next with 46 million shares valued at N104 million traded in 97 deals, followed by United Bank of Africa Plc with 33.8 million shares valued at N191 million traded in 364 deals.

Transnational Corp of Nigeria Plc was next with 31.1 million shares valued at N30 million traded in 197 deals. Zenith Bank Plc rounds off the top five most actively traded stocks today with 16 million shares valued at N295 million traded in 374 deals.

The Audited Financial Statements would be filed with the Nigerian Stock Exchange latest July 29, 2019.
