The Nigerian Stock Exchange moved up sharply in today’s trading session. The All Share Index closed at 31,433.49 basis points, up 1.98%. Year to date, the All Share index is back in the green, up 0.01%

The bullish market was due to gains by Guaranty Trust Bank which closed up 9.58% and Zenith Bank which gained 7.24%. The two stocks are among the biggest on the NSE by market capitalization.

Forte Oil Plc was the best performing stock today. The stock gained 10% to close at N29.70. Unity Bank Plc was next appreciating by 9.76% to close at N0.90. Guaranty Trust Bank Plc rounds up the top three gainers for today, appreciating by 9.58% to close at N38.

McNichols Plc was the worst performing stock today. The stock shed 9.52% to close at N0.38. TransNationwide Express Plc fell by 8.70% to close at N0.63. Royal Exchange Plc fell by 8.70% to close at N0.26.

Top Trades by Volume

UBA Plc was the most actively traded stock today. 136 million shares valued at N987 million were traded in 400 deals. Zenith Bank was next with 63.4 million shares valued at N1.4 billion traded in 501 deals. Access Bank rounds up the most actively traded stock today with 44.4 million shares valued at N277 million traded in 187 deals.
