The management and board of United Capital Plc has announced the appointment of Shedrack Onakpoma as the company’s new Chief Finance Officer (CFO).
This was disclosed in a notice sent to the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) and the company’s esteem shareholders.
Onakpoma’s appointment which took effect on January 15, 2019, according to the company, was as a result of Odiri Oginni’s resignation as the company’s CFO.
What you should know about the new CFO
Prior to joining United Capital, Shedrack Onakpoma was the CFO of Heirs Insurance Limited.
Onakpoma spent about 5 years with Union Assurance as a Principal Manager, and Head of Accounts and Strategic Management Office. As Management Staff of Union Assurance Company Limited, he successfully implemented the Balanced Scorecard and successfully transited the company from Local GAAP to IFRS.
He began his insurance career at Industrial and General Insurance Company Plc as Assistant Manager and rose to the position of Chief Finance Officer (CFO) – Industrial General Insurance, Ghana, a subsidiary of IGI Plc, Nigeria – after a stint with Nigeria Wire Industry Plc (One of the foremost Nail Manufacturing Company in West Africa) where he rose to the position of an Assistant Manager.
Onakpoma is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and an Economist, with over 17 years experience and 10 years at management level with vast insurance exposure within Nigeria, Ghana and East Africa. He is also a professional balance scorecard expert.
He has acquired vast exposure in Financial Management, Business Planning, Mergers & Acquisition, Business Combination and Restructuring within West Africa and East Africa.
He is a graduate of Economics from Olabisi Onobanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, Ogun state, Nigeria. An Associate Licensed International Financial Analyst (LIFA).
