Morison Industries Plc appoints Deji Mustapha as Acting MD

The Board and Management of Morison Industries Plc, have approved the appointment of Deji Mustapha as its Acting Managing Director (MD) with effect from December 10, 2018.

Mustapha’s appointment follows the resignation of Nwabueze Oputa as the company’s MD, which took effect from November 30, 2018.

Morison Industries made these disclosures in a notification to the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) and Shareholders of the company.

What you should know about Deji Mustapha

Deji Mustapha is best described as an accomplished leader with wide multidisciplinary exposures and successful track records at tactical and strategic levels of financial and general management. Deji has a clear vision of making landmark contribution in leadership and corporate governance.

Deji started his professional training career in 1984 with Messrs. Akintola William & Co. (now Deloitte), where the foundation for his varied experiences in the areas of audit, investigation, accounting, taxation, company secretariat practice as well as management consultancy were laid.

His working experience has also seen him through Pivot Engineering Company Limited as Chief Finance Officer where he wasin charge of Policies Formulation and Implementation. He had a stint at General Manager-level position with Christaben Group, a mid and downstream investment company in the oil and gas sector, where he coordinated and supervised the group’s commercial and investment activities.

He comes as one of the best managers of the media business in Nigeria, as Group Executive Director/Managing Director at Leaders & Company Ltd, publishers of ThisDay Newspapers, between the year 2000 and 2010 where he brought his rich corporate experience in accounting, finance, administration, construction and leadership to bear.

Deji has a sharp analytical mind and he is very meticulous in his work. Several innovations introduced by him while at THISDAY remain eloquent testimonies of his diligence, dedication and discipline as a chartered accountant. He later joined the services of Timbuktu Media Limited (Publishers of 234 NEXT Newspapers), as Senior Executive Vice President of the Company.

Most recently since 2012, he has been a Partner at Doyin Owolabi & Co, Chartered Accountants, where he continued his services in audit, investigation, accounting, taxation, company secretariat practice as well as management consultancy for public liability companies and MDAs of State/Federal Governments.

Deji is also endowed with exposures to international best practices in consultancy and project management through international workshops and benchmarking over the past thirty fourthirty-four. He is an alumnus of The Global Institute for Leadership Development, USA (GILD 2008- 2009), Leading Diversity Summit, USA (2007), Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (1997), as well as holding an MBAin Financial Management from the University of Lagos (1991), and B.Sc. with Second Class Upper in Accounting from the University of Basin (1983).
