Investors lose N713 billion in Nigerian Stock Exchange, Bargain hunting in stock market

The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) continued its downtrend this week, as the All Share Index closed at 36,364.80 basis points down 0.25%. Year to date, the index is down 4.91%.

Top Gainers and Losers

Caverton closed at N2.09, up 10%. Champion Breweries closed at N2.09, up 10%. Cutix Plc closed at N3.99, up 9.92%.

On the flip side, Livestock Feeds Plc closed at N0.63, depreciating by 10%. Japaul Oil closed at N0.28, down 9.68%. Royal Exchange Plc closed at N3.99, down 9.09%

Top trades by Volume

The top three trades by volume were all from the financial services segment. 88.6 million First Bank shares valued at N820 million were traded today in 269 deals. 51.6 million UBA Plc shares valued at N482 million were traded in 164 deals. 39.2 million Access Bank shares valued at N394 million were traded in 121 deals.

Corporate Actions

Aluminium Extrusion Plc

Aluminium Extrusion Plc has released its results for the period ended June 2018. Revenue dropped from N1.4 billion in 2017 to N1.3 billion in 2018. Profit before tax, however, increased from N46 million in 2017 to N61 million in 2018. Profit after tax also rose from N34 million in 2017 to N49 million in 2018.

Neimeth International Pharmaceuticals

Neimeth International Pharmaceuticals released its results for the six months ended June 2018. Revenue increased from N916 million in 2017 to N1.3 billion in 2018. The company made a profit before tax of N61 million in 2018 as against a loss before tax of N259 million.

Law Union and Rock Insurance Plc

Law Union and Rock insurance Plc, today, released its results for the half year ended June 2018. Revenue increased from N2.76 billion in 2017 to N2.79 billion in 2018. Profit before tax increased from N374 million in 2017 to N428 million in 2018. Profit after tax increased from N318 million in 2017 to N364 million in 2018.

Okomu Oil Plc

Okomu Oil Plc released its results for the period ended June 2018. Year to date revenue increased from N12.4 billion in 2017 to N12.9 billion in 2018. Profit before tax, however, dropped from N7.8 billion to N6.9 billion. Profit after tax also fell from N6.2 billion in 2017 to N5.9 billion in 2018.

Continental Reinsurance Plc

Continental Reinsurance Plc released its results for the period ended June 2018. Gross premium written increased from N11 billion in 2017 to N11.6 billion in 2018. Profit before tax dropped from N3 billion to N2.3 billion in 2018. Profit after tax also fell from N2.2 billion in 2017 to N1.7 billion.

Union Bank

Union Bank released its results for the half year ended June 2018. Gross Earnings increased from N72 billion in 2017 to N83 billion in 2018. Profit before tax increased from N9.4 billion in 2017 to N11.6 billion in 2018. Profit after tax also rose from N9.2 billion in 2017 to N11.4 billion in 2018.

Zenith Bank Plc

The board of directors of Zenith Bank has approved its audited results for the half year ended June 2018, and the payment of an interim dividend. The bank will inform the NSE when the CBN approves the results.

NPF Microfinance Bank

NPF Microfinance Bank today announced the appointment of three Non-Executive directors Abdulrahman Satumari, Rakiya Edota Shehu, and Salihu Argungu Hashimu

Regency Alliance Plc

The board of Regency Alliance Plc will be meeting on the 26th of July 2018. Several issues will be considered including the company’s unaudited results for the second quarter ended June 2018. The closed period for trading in the company’s shares commenced on the 12th of July 2018.
