Coca-Cola Nigeria Limited has introduced 3 new products into the Nigerian market. They include 35cl 5Alive Tropical, 35cl 5Alive Apple and 85cl 5Alive Pulpy Orange. The company had recently disclosed plans to invest $600 million in Nigeria, over the next few years as well as increase the proportion of raw materials sourced from the country to 75% by 2020.

Other reasons for the new products

Coca-Cola may have decided to release the 35cl products in response to customers reaction towards other products in its stable. The company had in July this year released a 35cl PET bottle for Coke which retails for N100. The product has had significant success. Consumers have largely resisted buying the regular 50cl products at N150.

Will Bigi Cola react ?

Ritesfoods limited, makers of the popular Bigi cola range of soft drinks is yet to introduce its own 35 cl bottle. The company, had last year ignited a sales war when it introduced a 650 mil PET bottle, which forced rivals Coca-Cola and Pepsi to reduce their prices while increasing volume
