Nigeria comes tops in this year’s Shell Global Livewire competition

Two Nigerians Precious Adeho and Ngozi Attalor  did the country proud as they came tops this year’s Shell Global Livewire competition held in Freetown, Sierra Leone. The competition formed part of activities held during this year’s Global Entrepreneurship Week.

Details of the Prize won 

The two participants won $5000 each, and were the only Africans to reach the finals of the competition. 22 entrpreneurs from 9 countries  participated in the competition.  Adeho and Atalor are past winners of Shell Livewire Nigeriia. Adeho got a start-up grant to reposition his company, Emobella Engineering Nigeria Limited, which provides engineering services with a USP of 24-hour availability.

Atalor, a 2016 Shell LiveWIRE grant recipient, provides affordable solar energy solutions for households and businesses. Her company, De-rahbs Energy Services also installs, services and repairs solar energy equipment.

Shell Global Livewire is the company’s flagship Social Investment Programme. Livewire aims to strengthen local communities by promoting entrepreneurship, innovation and meaningful employment. The programme began in Scotland in 1982 , and is now present in the 15 countries Shell operates.

Shell LiveWIRE is a social investment programme that aims to help young Nigerians explore the option of starting their own business as a real and viable career option. It provides support, access to training, guidance, and business mentorship to young entrepreneurs and potential entrepreneurs between the ages of 18 and 35.

The programme operates mainly in the Niger Delta region and aims to inspire, encourage and support young people aged 18-35 to start up their own businesses through the provision of finance and training for young entrepreneurs.
