Product Review: Lenovo vs Dell vs HP Computers in Nigeria
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on Linkedin

When it comes to choosing what computer brand to use, it might be a tough decision considering factors such as, your pocket size and what you intend to use the computer for. Over the years in Nigeria the mostly used brands have been HP and Dell recently joined by Lenovo. Despite topping the chart on popularity, computers are not chosen based on popularity or fame but on their efficiency. Comparison between these three brands is rather difficult considering they all have excellent branding, proficient market strategy and are quite affordable.

A choice, however, has to be made.  The following should help you decide the right substitute to suit your independent need or purpose.

  • Battery power; HP is generally known to have the best battery capacity on the market. Battery life meanwhile is measured either by light usage or heavy usage. On HP computers, using the pavilion and notebook series, battery usage might either be light or heavy. In a country like Nigeria with epileptic power supply, light usage ranges from simple tasks like typing documents to reading and surfing the internet while heavy usage constitutes, gaming, watching movies, and other extended uses. For light usage a proper HP battery can run for about 5hours while heavy usage will see the battery giving out after 3 hours. In this case, the award for battery power goes to HP.
  • Aesthetics; for those who love the finer things of life and want to show off a flashy laptop with really cool designs, you definitely want to get a Lenovo computer. Lenovo computers are designed to look good. Ranging from the lighted keypads, the sleek body designs to the glossy finish on some variants, Lenovo computers have an outstanding appearance. Since late 2015 till date, Lenovo computers have been increasingly improving from flashy design to even more flashy design. If you’re looking for flashy, then Lenovo is the way to go.
  • Portability; from history of computers, computers get smaller in size over the years. Looking back, I can remember a time when one computer could fill a whole room. If you’re thinking portable, you should consider HP. HP offers a very wide range of products that you can choose from. Ranging from size to weight. HP has a product that can suit your needs; from the super slim to lesser screens and keyless screens, there is always a product for you with HP.

Battle of substitute: What’s your most preferable choice of laptop?

  • Gaming and programming; gaming and serious programming activities put a lot of pressure on the RAM of any laptop and due to the high multimedia graphics and simultaneous processes, a computer has to be exceptionally built for this function. By our analysis, the best brands when it comes to gaming and programming has to be DELL. thanks to Nvidia’s new GeForce GTX 1050 and 1050 Ti GPUs, gamers can get some of the benefits DELL’s new Inspiron series. If you can forgo serious heating and a little poor display, then a DELL computer will be your best option for heavy duty RAM activities.

  • Availability of spare parts; walking through computer village and looking for an original battery can be very frustrating. Not only because the sun is really hot or you’re scared of ‘magically losing your personal effects to some unseen spirits’ but also the fact that you can’t seem to find a replacement for a damaged part of your computer. Well as far as computers go, the undisputed champion when it comes to availability of spare part will as of today remain HP (although others are catching up). If you have the tendency to misuse your computer, your safest option will be to go with an HP as you are certain replacing the parts won’t be a problem.

  • Pocket friendly; this is probably the most important feature of any product right now based on the economy. There actually happens to be a tie between HP and Lenovo as both products have a wide range of affordable computers with really nice specification for the amount.

With this information, I trust you’ll be able to narrow your choice down to suit your needs. Remember, efficiency overrules popularity.
