Profile of Stanbic IBTC Holdings newest board member Miannaya Ajah Essien (SAN)

Stanbic Ibtc Holdings has appointed Mrs Miannaya Ajah Essien as an Independent Director. Mrs Essien is the Managing Partner/Co-founder of Principles Law Partnership. Prior to this, she was the Company Secretary OUT Finance Limited and Head of Chambers Chike Chigbue (SAN) and Co from 1986-1990. Mrs Essien was elevated to the position of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) in 2007.

She obtained an LLB from the University of Nsukka in 1984 and an LLM from the University of Lagos in 1991. A member of several professional bodies including the International bar Association, Maritime Arbitrators Association of Nigeria, Mrs Miannaya Ajah Essien is also an adjunct lecturer at the Nigerian Law School.

Mrs Ajah Essien was one of 9 lawyers whose names were forwarded by the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) to the Chief Justice of Nigeria Walter Onnoghen as nominees for appointment as Justices of the Supreme Court.
