MTN Nigeria has reported that it posted a total revenue of about N870 billion (R31.97 billion) for the period ended June 2017 representing a 10.8% increase from the N786 billion in revenue reported same period in 2016.

The telecom giant also reported that its earnings before interest tax depreciation and amortization was N334.4 million.

Revenue breakdown

A break down of the revenue shows MTN’s voice continues to dominate revenue streams with about N650 million (R23.9 billion) or 74% of total revenues. Voice calls also rose 4% year on year.

Revenue from data however recorded a significant uptick with about growing by 70% to N309 million only (R3.7 billion).

It also reported that it made about N105.8 billion (R3.89 billion) on digital and SMS content representing a 14.1% growth year on year.

For the group, MTN revealed its revenue for 2017 half year was R64.3 billion ($4.8 billion) compared to R79.1 billion in the same period in 2016. Africa’s largest mobile network also reported a profit after tax of R4.9 billion.
