Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, Minister of Science and Technology said it has perfected plans to produce 2000 megawatts of electricity through solar energy.
1000 will go to the national grid and 1000 will go off grid. He disclosed this at a press conference to brief the media on the outcome of his tour of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) in Ethiopia.
IRENA is an inter-governmental organization involved in many countries from all the continents of the world that emphasize the importance of renewable energy. IRENA also promotes the use of bio-energy, ocean, solar, geo-thermal and hydro energy.
