Sanusi, Soludo Next as FG Continues Probimania

Strong indications coming from sources close to the Presidency reveal that the immediate past governor of the CBN, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi and his predecessor, Charles Soludo are next in line for probing as the FG refuses to relent in its aggressive probe of officials under the former administration.

Sun News reports that, the probe, which was yet receive final approval by President Muhammadu Buhari, would focus on the printing of Naira notes under the authorization of Soludo and the management of CBN’s “surplus” finances under Sanusi, who is now Emir of Kano.

Although Sun News’ sources dismissed the idea, the timing of the possible probe seems suspicious considering that both of these individuals had only recently criticized the economic policies of the Buhari administration.

Sanusi had only just warned the Buhari administration may end up just as woefully as that of erstwhile President, Goodluck Jonathan. He also criticized the forex policy of the government, which, in his opinion provided free and huge rewards for selected people who did not engage in any kind of business.

Soludo, on the other hand, had faulted some economic policies of the government recently, indicating that policy mismatch resulting in extreme poverty was caused by the present administration.

Sun News reports that the FG wanted Sanusi to clear himself of corruption allegations brought against him by the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria (FRCN) 2013 report while Soludo was to answer for N38.233 billion paid to the Nigerian Security Printing and Minting Company (NSPMC) Plc in 2011 for the “printing of bank notes” when the turnover of the entire printing and minting company group for the year stood at N29.370 billion.
