President Muhammadu Buhari is conspicuously absent at the emergency meeting which he summoned yesterday.
According to reports, Vice President Yemi Osinabjo is currently presiding the meeting which commenced at 11am.
The President’s absence was apparently a surprise to the members of the FEC.
Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr. David Babachir called the meeting to order while Vice President Osinabjo called for opening prayers.
Newsmen were then excused from the meeting. We do not know if the president would join the meeting later.
Purpose of the emergency meeting, we learnt, was apparently to review the 2016 budget estimates which got to the presidency yesterday from the National Assembly.
President Buhari had insisted on seeing the details of the budget before he could append his signature to sign the 2016 Appropriation Bill into law.
Details of the meeting will be brought to you later…
