TCN Boss Resigns Over Demotion, Informs Fashola

Veronica Osuhor

Reports reaching Nairametrics reveal the Managing Director of the Transmission Company of Nigeria, Mrs. Veronica Osuhor, has resigned her appointment following a directive that she be demoted to the position of a Director from Managing Director. Mrs Osubor is just done 6 months out of her 4 year tenure as Managing Director of TCN.

She was said to have resigned her appointment after she was told that she will now be reporting to a new Managing Director who is to be appointed by the concessionaire Manitoba Hydro International Limited (MHIL). Manitoba, a Canadian firm has been in a dispute with the Nigerian Management of TCN.

She explained the reason for her resignation is based on “recent directive which indicates that my current role will be to understudy a MHIL-designate at a lower level.” According to a report from Thisday, Manitoba was said to have given powers to pick a new Managing Director and it opted to appoint a junior officer to replace Osuhor, with the later expected to work under him.

The resignation letter was dated November 23, 2015 and addressed to the Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Gov Babatunde Raji Fashola.
