The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Ibe Kachikwu has urged both the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) and the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) to monitor the influx of imported lubricants into the country due to the widely reported cases of substandard lubricant in the market.
The Minister, who was represented by the Managing Director, NNPC Retail, Mr. Ladipo Fagbola, said this in a keynote address he delivered at the 2nd Nigerian Lubricants Summit in Lagos.
The Chairman, Lubcon International Group, Jani Ibrahim, added that “We need to prevent the country from becoming a dumping ground. Importation of processed lubricants is a big challenge to the sector. “I think there is a need for us to present a bill to the National Assembly on recycling of used lubricants in the country,” he said.
