New Minister Watch (Health): Professor Isaac Folorunso Adewole

Professor Isaac Folorunso Adewole emerged as one of the surprise ministerial appointees by President Buhari.

Although he nominated by the president himself, the two individuals have had a bit of history together.

He was sacked and declared wanted by the Gen. Buhari Military Administration 30 years ago, in 1985, when he was the secretary of the Association of Resident Doctors at the University College Hospital in Ibadan.

Due to his vast experience and dedication to the medical world, he has been tipped to become a successful minister in the Federal cabinet.

Here is his brief profile:

He is an active member of various organisations both within and outside Nigeria, including:
The Pan African University Council.
The Governing Council, Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU), London
Cancer Ethics Committee (IEC)
International Agency for Research on Cancer.
Medical Practitioner Disciplinary Tribunal.
Nigerian Medical Association.
Society of Gynaecology and Obstetrics of Nigeria (SOGON).
International Agency for Research on Cancer.
African Organization for Research and Training in Cancer.
His career before being called to public service
He was the secretary of the Association of Resident Doctors at the University College Hospital in Ibadan.
He was the Provost, College of Medicine, University of Ibadan before he became Vice Chancellor.
He was the former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ibadan
He was the former President of the African Organisation for Research Training in Cancer.
Professor Isaac Folorunso Adewole will be overseeing the following agencies and parastatals in his new role as the minster of Health 
National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA)
National Agency for Food & Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC)
National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS)
National Institute of Medical Research (NIMR)
National Institute for Pharmaceutical Research and Development (NIPRD)
National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA)
What he can bring in his new post:
Professor Isaac Folorunso Adewole will be expected to bring in more stability to the health ministry with his vast range of experience.
He is also expected to expand the reach of health care services to the excluded segments of the population.
