The ministerial screening has commenced with much suspense and anxiety, among those with impressive performance was Former Governor Dr. Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State.
He was on the podium for about 50 minutes answering questions from Senators who took a go at him. Fayemi fortunately did not shudder as he took the legislators on a lecture on modern governance and policies. He sure showed the Legislators that he was one of the chief architects of APC’s manifestos.
Fayemi had some very good moments laden with impressive punchlines. We took stock of most of them and select the following as our best 5.
Fayemi Punclines;
On Poverty: “Poverty Is not the problem of Nigeria but Inequality”.
On Terror: “If we’re tough on terror we also need to be tough on the causes of terror.”
On National Interest: “We need to balance our interests between the West (traditional allies), and the BRIC countries”
On Foreign Policy: “We need to sync our foreign policy with Trade & Investment and Defence & Security”
On not being an astute politician: “I consider myself primarily a teacher and researcher, I am a politician by vocation.”
