  • President Muhammadu Buhari said that the first set of names for ministerial nominees for confirmation has been sent to the senate. Subsequent lists will be forwarded in due course.
  • He made this statement during his October 1st Independence Day Broadcast to Nigerians.
  • Senate President, Bukola Saraki, had on Wednesday received the ministerial nominees list  from the Presidency but said the content of the presidential communication would be read on Tuesday.
  • According to our Source, 21 names were contained in the list.
  • Former Chief of Army Staff, Abdulrahman Dambazau,   former  Governors: Rotimi Amaechi, Babatunde Fashola, Kayode Fayemi, Chris Ngige, Ogbonaya Onu were among the names forwarded to the senate.
  • Others in the list are a one time APC governorship flag bearer in Taraba, Aisha Alhassan,  Hadi Sirika, Lai Mohammed, Amina Mohammed; A former commissioner of Ogun State, Kemi Adeosun,  Malami Abubakar (SAN), Udo Udoma and the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Emmanuel  Kachikwu.
  • Kachikwu’s appointment will be to function as the junior minister taking charge of day-to-day affairs in the Petroleum sector while Buhari oversees it.
  • You will recall that while attending the UN General Assembly in New York on Tuesday, Buhari  stated that would be minister of petroleum resources.
