President of Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, Amaju Pinnick has started fulfilling his promise of improving the involvement of the private sector in Nigerian football.
The NFF president made a revelation on how much super eagles manager Sunday Oliseh will be paid on a Lagos television, he stated that the football body has concluded plans with Zenith Bank to pay Oliseh’s salary for a year.
He noted that a deal with the bank is in the pipeline. According to Pinnick, the NFF is introducing a sustainable youth programme which will be sponsored by Zenith, while part of the deal is to see the bank paying Oliseh’s salary for a year.
With a monthly salary of N5 million, it is expected that Zenith Bank will cough out the sum of N60 million for Oliseh’s salary as disclosed by the NFF president.
This corporate social responsibility by Zenith Bank may not be in the interest of we shareholders of the bank. How will the payment of the coach salary impact on the bottom line of the bank? What should add up to our dividend pay out is going to be wasted on payment of Oliseh’s salary. Mr Ovia should be ready to answer question on this at the next annual general meeting of the bank.
