The Nigerian Bottling Company (NBC) Ltd has said that within the period of 2008 to 2013 it paid the sum of N33 billion as electricity bills.
This was disclosed by the head of Public Affairs Communication, Mr. Uzo Odenigbo in an interactive session, with journalist in Owerri, the Imo state capital.
Odenigbo explained that, the Company does not hesitate to settle its electricity bills to wherever it has its operational plants to avoid distraction of work despite having their big generators.
Answering questions during the interaction, he explained that the NBC operates 12 bottling plants in the country, in addition to 50 distribution depots and a widespread network of distribution partners.
Mr. Odenigbo revealed that work would soon commence at Okigwe site in Imo state which is expected to cost the company the sum of N80 billion.
According to him, work on the propose cite would have commence before now, expect that the NBC is trying to sort out some challenges confronting the company, adding that definitely work would start at 30,000 hectares of land in 2016.
He denied the allegation that Imo state government was making some moves to recover the said land from the company because it had taken so many years the land was handed over to the NBC.
