- President Muhammadu Buhari will today inaugurate his administration’s National Economic Council (NEC).
- The council is expected to draw up a roadmap that will actualise the economic policies of the new administration.
- As is the tradition, the council will be chaired by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and will be composed of all the 36 state governors.
- The permanent secretaries of the ministries of finance, national planning, and Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor will also be members of the council. Section 18 of the 1999 Constitution provides for the NEC to serve as an advisory body to the president on the economy
