Unity Bank Plc (‘’the Bank’’) notified The Nigerian Stock Exchange that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has approved the appointment of Mrs. Tomi Somefun as an Executive Director and member of its Board.

Mrs. Tomi Somefun is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and graduated from the Obafemi Awolowo University (formerly University of Ife) in 1981 with a Bachelor of Education in English Language.

She began her professional career with KPMG as a Senior Audit Assistant from 1982 – 1986 before joining Arthur Andersen & Co in 1986 to 1989 as an Audit Senior. She also worked with Ventures & Trusts as an Associate between 1989 -1992.

Between 1992 and 1995, Mrs. Somefun worked with Credit Bank Ltd before moving to UBA Trustees Ltd in 1996. She joined United Bank for Africa Plc in 2003 as an Assistant General Manager and became the Managing Director of UBA Capital & Trust Ltd from 2004 to 2005 and the founding Managing Director/CEO of UBA Pensions Custodian Ltd from 2005 to 2014.

Mrs. Somefu has attended several Executive Training and Advanced Managing Programs both within and outside Nigeria including INSEAD Fontainebleau, France, EUROMNOEY training programmes, Harvard Business School and Global Custody Conference, UK.
