Heritage Bank says agriculture sector is crucial to economic development and it has launched an initiative aimed at making teeming Nigerian youths to embrace agriculture.
The lender said it had partnered with one of the nation’s musician, Dbanj, to inaugurate the initiative called Koko Agropreneur.
Koko Agropreneur is an entrepreneurial initiative that focuses on agriculture and agro-economic enterprise, according to a statement by Heritage Bank.
The bank said the Koko Agropreneur initiative, among other things, was aimed at providing practical leadership and encouragement to the massive youth population to embrace the agricultural revolution being championed by the Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Akinwunmi Adesina, as part of the national socio-economic transformation agenda.
It is also an initiative designed to stress the significance of Small and Medium scale Enterprises as a veritable platform for future economic well-being of the country.
Earlier in the year, Dbanj had made a donation of N50m to the Nigeria Agricultural Entrepreneur, the national agricultural renewal project being championed by the Ministry of Agriculture.
This followed Dbanj’s appointment as the brand ambassador for the Nagropreneur initiative.
Heritage said the new venture with the musician was part of the lender’s mandate for the preservation and transfer of wealth via robust SME support scheme.
