June 24st 2013: African Glass (Nigeria) Ltd today announced the planned expansion of its glass operations in Nigeria. The sole producer of opaque glass in Nigeria intends to set up a state of the art float glass plant. The plant will have a capacity of 500 tonnes per day. The company and its European consultant have completed a market study in the last six months. The company will locate this new plant in Ogun State. The state of the art technology will be provided by a European supplier; negotiations are at the final stage.
The spokesperson for the company Barr. Uche Iwuamadi stated that the $80 million investment would be the first step in their diversification into the float glass production arena to supply the Nigerian and West African markets.
