World sugar production in 2012/2013 is estimated to reach a new record that will exceed projected global consumption, the Food and Agriculture Organisation has said.
This was contained in the latest edition of the United Agency’s Food Outlook, a biannual report on global food markets, which was published on Thursday, June 13. According to the report, which says food commodity markets are set to be more balanced in 2013/14, world sugar production in 2012/13 is set to increase by 4.8 million tonnes, or 2.8 per cent to 180 million tonnes.
