The Offshore Technology Conference, OTC, is an annual event held in Houston Texas, USA and is regularly attended by those in the Oil and Gas sector. The event was just concluded last Thursday 9th May, and was attended by several dignitaries including the Governor of Texas and Norway’s crown prince. This year, the Vanguard reports Nigeria had
“about 1,500 attendants, which included a number of oil services companies, oil companies operating in Nigeria, private individuals and other non-oil corporate organisations like banks, insurance, maritime and a host of others. Nigeria had the fifth largest representation at the 2012 edition of the conference”.
This year a 30-year high of 104,800 people attended the event. It is also the second highest in show history and 17 percent above last year. It is currently not determined how much Nigeria actually benefits from attending this event apart from the huge source of revenue it provides for Airlines, Tour Operates etc.
