Brent crude lost 1.14 %, to trade at $39.38 a barrel at 3.40 am Nigerian time, failing to stay over the $40 resistance price level. 
The two leading oil producers in the cartel are not just demanding that these non-compliant member countries implement the output cuts already promised, but also want deeper output cuts in the coming months to make up for their earlier failings.
Crude oil prices, against earlier predictions, surged past the $40 per barrel mark in the early hours of Wednesday – the highest in almost 3 months.
Russia has always been the black sheep in the OPEC+ family as they tend to ever deviate from consensual commitment concerning the oil market.
Some of the non-OPEC member countries recorded less than impressive compliance rates. Kazakhstan, Brunei, and South Sudan recorded 47%, 22%, and 13% compliance respectively.
Brent crude gained about 1.49%, at $40.18, 3.30 am Nigerian time – the highest level since March 6, having gained 3.3% on Tuesday.

OPEC+ agreed in April to reduce output by an unprecedented 9.7 million barrels per day in May and June after the deadly COVID-19 pandemic weakened demand. 
Note that OPEC members usually take a decision on their plans for oil trade for the month of July in the first week of June, so as to give them time to react quickly to decisions at the meeting.
It saw steep monthly gains due to falling global crude oil production and expectations for demand growth around the world.
OPEC is weighing the possibility of continuing with the current level of OPEC+ production cuts till the end of the year in order to support the oil market.
The report also stated that distillate inventories were up by 6.9 million barrels for the week, as against last week’s 5.1 million barrel inventories.
