Funso Doherty, a political activist who previously contested for the Lagos State gubernatorial election, has taken the Federal Government, the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP), and Hitech Construction to court over alleged illegalities in the awarding and commencement of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road project.
Former Lagos State ADC gubernatorial candidate Funso Doherty, through his lawyers, has served a pre-action notice to the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP), citing alleged violations of bidding processes in the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway project. 
Funso Doherty, has written to Attorney General of the Federation, Mr Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), alleging that the award of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway construction contract by the Federal Ministry of Works to Hitech Construction Limited violates the Public Procurement Act (PPA). 
Funso Doherty, a Lagos-based accountant and ADC governorship candidate in the last general election, has formally requested that the National Assembly investigate the bidding process for the Lagos-Calabar Highway, which was awarded to Hitech Construction Company.
Funso Doherty, a former ADC gubernatorial candidate for Lagos State, has called on the Lagos State Government to carefully consider businesses that have heavily invested in employing locals and contributing taxes while reclaiming land for the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway project. 
Funso Doherty, a chartered accountant and politician in Lagos, has advised Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to reimburse the Lagos State account for the funds spent on traveling from Grenada, adding that such expenses amount to public waste.  
In a recent letter addressed to the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mr Funso Doherty clarified that the Lagos state government does not have a binding memorandum of understanding with Oando Clean Energy Limited regarding sustainable transportation in the state.
Funso Doherty has said that although he agrees with the fuel subsidy removal, Lagos state will most likely be hit hardest following the implementation of the policy.
Funso Doherty has expressed concerns over the propriety of the Lagos State Government’s partnership on electronic vehicles.
