Flutterwave Inc a fintech firm has announced the completion of its Series A Extension round of financing. Investors from this round of investment include Mastercard, CRE Ventures, Fintech Collective, 4DX Ventures, and Raba Capital, among others.
According to a statement by the firm, as part of its financing, the current Green Visor Capital Chairman & General Partner and former Chairman & CEO of Visa, Joe Saunders, has joined the Flutterwave Board of Directors.
Flutterwave has now raised over $20 million to date while its largest investors include Green Visor Capital and Greycroft Partners. In a restructuring exercise, the current Green Visor Capital Chairman & General Partner and former Chairman & CEO of Visa, Joe Saunders, has joined the Flutterwave Board of Directors while Flutterwave Co-Founder, Olugbenga Agboola would replace Iyinoluwa Aboyeji who has stepped down as the CEO.
Aboyeji co-founder Andela left the coder-training company in 2016 to start Flutterwave, a digital payments infrastructure platform that aggregates various payment methods for merchants, banks, and money transfer operators across Africa.
Flutterwave clients leverage one API (application program interface) integration to ensure end-users can pay and get paid anywhere across Africa.
It also provides an end-to-end payments technology and infrastructure that enables payment service providers, global merchants, licensed money transfer operators and Pan-African banks to process payments across all available payments options in Africa. It is a digital payments technology company on a mission to connect Africa to the global economy.
Flutterwave, founded in 2016 by a team of ex-bankers, entrepreneurs and engineers has its headquarters in San Francisco with offices in Lagos, Nairobi, Accra, and Johannesburg.
