The Nasarawa State Government has announced that over 1,600 ghost workers have been discovered through the use of the Bank Verification Number (BVN).
According to Idris Yakubu, Executive Director of the bank that conducted the BVN exercise, it was discovered that only 58,000 workers and pensioners were authentic workers of the Nasarawa State Government.
Yakubu made this statement while presenting the final bio-metric report to Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura of Nasarawa State.
“During the exercise we were able to recover over N83m monthly and if government will implement this it will also run into N990m yearly” Yakubu said.
